Phoksundo Lake Trek is one of the most popular short trekking in Dolpo region of Nepal. It is isolated area of Dolpo opened for foreign visitors in 1992. These itinerary lead you to the awe-inspiring views of unique landscapes, exotic livelihoods and wildlife. Phoksundo Lake is alpine freshwater, deep blue and emerald colors are enchanting. No wonder this lake is also considered as sacred by Buddhists and followers of Bon-po religion. These mystic land was portrayed in the movie ‘Caravan’ Eric valley, which was also nominated in the Oscar.

To Start the trip, we fly to Nepalgunj, also gateway to Bardia Jungle Safari. Next Morning flight takes you small airstrip in Juphal to start trek in Dolpo region. The trail ascend and descends through a cultivated fields and dry landscapes, densely forested filled with beautiful pines and fir forests and flowing river besides you further up. The trekking route can be considered relatively easy and short trek that can be done in 11 days, you will not have to cross any high passes in the Himalayan region. We cross several traditional villages such as Chhepka, Jharana Hotel, Ringmo where teahouse are available for accommodation and food. On the trail you will come across the magnificent 330m high waterfall. In addition to natural beauty, Se Phoksundo Trek is also home of endangered species like the snow leopard, musk deer, blue sheep, great Tibetan sheep, Himalayan tahr and many more.

Day 01:

Kathmandu Arrival, Transfer to Hotel

Accommodation: 3 Star Hotel in Kathmandu

After you arrival in Tribhuvan International Airport at Kathmandu, Nepal. Aspiration Adventure English Speaking representative will be on hand all the time waiting with your name plate and transferred to hotel. There will be a Pre-trip meeting, so make sure to ask all the questions. You also will meet your trek guide and had some trip briefing and discussion. We will let you know about the time of meeting upon your arrival at hotel. You can also take this opportunity to hire or buy any trekking equipment at market or explore the tourist colorful market Thamel Bazaar down Town. Overnight at 3 Star Hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 02:

Flight from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj.

Accommodation: 3 Star Hotel in Nepalgunj

Include Meals: Breakfast

In the Morning, you can explore around the streets of Thamel. In the afternoon, you will fly to Nepalgunj Airport, gateway to the Far West and the Bardia Nationl Park. The flight duration is about 50 minutes and offers a view of the Himalayas as we fly west of Kathmandu. Upon arrival, transfer to Hotel. Take Rest or Explore the market. Get ready for tomorrow’s mountain flight to Juphal. Overnight at 3 Star Hotel in Nepalgunj.

Day 03:

Flight to Juphal, Trek to Dunai

Distance: 35 Minutes Flight and 3 Hours Walk

Accommodation: Lodges in Dunai

Include Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Following the morning breakfast at Hotel. Today you will fly to Juphal, it takes 35 minutes to reach the trekking start point of Phoksundo Lake. The ascends southeast above Thulo Bheri Valley and walk through the maize fields to the village of Kalagaunda. Follow the Bheri Valley and Roop Ghar (a traditional Water Mill) we reach Dunai at 2145 meters. Dunai is the administrative capital and the headquarters of Dolpa district where you will find school, police check post, tourist class lodges, health post and some government offices. Overnight at lodges in Dunai.

Day 04:

Trek to Chhekpa village

Distance: 6–7 hours trek

Accommodation: Lodge at Chhepka

Include Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

After Breakfast, We begin the trek descend through the streets of Dunai to cross the bridge over Bheri River. After almost an hour we will reach the small town of Sulighat. Then we head north to reach Shey Phoksundo National Park checkpoint. Beyond the checkpost, we walk above on the rocky trail above the serpentine Suli Ghad River and trail stretches higher through the series of hemp tree we arrive to Kageni. Further trekking brings us to observe glimpses of Tibetan culture with chortens and fluttering prayer flags. Around hour and more trek from Shyanta brings us to Chhepka 2670m. Overnight in a lodge at Chhepka.

Day 05:

Trek to Jharana Hotel

Distance: 5-6 hours trek

Accommodation: Lodge in Jharana (waterfall)

Include Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Today we wake up early in the morning and after Breakfast at lodge, we make trek to Jharana hotel. The trekking trail climbs through big cedars forest and on a winter settlement used by the people of Ringmo village. On the way, we get a close view of a spectacular waterfall 330 metre, the highest in Nepal and faraway view of Phoksundo lake. Overnight at Lodge in Jharana (waterfall) Hotel.

Day 06:

Trek to Tibetan village of Ringmo

Distance: 5–6 hours trek

Accommodation: Lodge in Ringmo

Include Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

After Breakfast at Hotel, We make steep descend through birch forests to the upper reaches of the Phoksundo River. Today is one of the most interesting days as we hike to Ringmo Village. On the way, we cross a bridge and follow a trail north to the ranger station at Phoksundo Lake that will continue to flows out of the lake. Finally, Phoksundo River gully, we emerge to the popular Tibetan Bon Village in the region, Ringmo. Overnight at lodge in Ringmo.

Day 07:

Phoksundo Lake Exploration Day

Include Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

After Breakfast at lodge, We head out to explore the major attraction of this trek. Before heading to Tshowa (the lake-shore Bon Monastery), we explore around the Ringmo Village. Exploring this culturally rich Bon Monastery and village we drop down to Phoksundo Lake along steep-sided cliffs. The lake is famous for its striking turquoise color and spectacular scenery. We also explore the wonderful natural sites and experience culture during these visit. Overnight at lodge.

Day 08:

Trek to Chhepka

Distance: 6–7 hours trek

Accommodation: Lodge in Chhepka

Include Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

After a Breakfast, we descend along the retracing trail to Chhepka. We will pass through the village of Renje, and fir and Sulighat river along the larch forests. Overnight at the lodge in Chhepka.

Day 09:

Trek to Juphal

Distance: 6-7 hours trek

Accommodation: Lodge at Juphal

Include Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

After Breakfast, we trek along the retracing trail that brings us to Juphal. Trekking for about 6-7 hours through the beautiful forests, fields, villages, diverse trail we arrive at Juphal bazaar. Overnight in a lodge at Juphal.

Day 10:

Fly Juphal to Nepalgunj and then connecting flight to Kathmandu

Accommodation: 3 Star Hotel in Kathmandu

Include Meals: Breakfast and Farewell Dinner

In the morning, you will fly from Juphal to Nepalgunj and connecting flight to Kathmandu. On arrival transfer to hotel and spend the day at leisure or explore around. You can also walk around the city and do shopping for your loved ones and relatives. In the evening, there will be a Farewell Dinner hosted by Aspiration Adventure at one of the Nepali authentic Nepalese restaurant with cultural show to celebrate the successful trekking.

Day 11:

Transfer to the airport for the final departure

It's your last day in Nepal! Grab hygenic breakfast, then take last-minute shopping and explore around the market or relax at hotel in Kathmandu. You will be advised and assisted for onward travel arrangements to make sure that you arrive at Airport three hours before your flight departs. Our airport representative will drop you to the airport for your International flight as per your flight schedule. We will exchange our good-byes and now you will be leaving Nepal, armed with all the good memories and unforgettable Experience. At Aspiration Adventure, We believe that the accommodation is one of the major factor that enhances your overall travel experience. In Kathmandu and Nepalgunj you will be accommodate in 3-Star deluxe properties and standard, clean, comfortable teahouses /Lodge during the trek which provides the basic accommodation facilities for the trekkers travelling to Phoksundo Lake. All the Accommodations are on twin sharing basis. However, Single Supplement can be provided upon request at additional cost. The rooms in Kathmandu are fitted with air conditioners, WI-FI and have en-suite bathrooms with 24-hour hot water. At higher elevations, there are only a few tea houses with basic facilities but, we make sure of best service available and you will feel difference in accommodation. Please inquiry us, we have the option to make the package more reasonable. We are flexible and happy to make that trip happen.
